1. Is it true that most African art is made from wood?

Although most European art collectors believe that this is true, further discoveries turned up numerous bronze pieces, and numerous soapstone works of art, originating within the African region. However, one should determine the definition of art from an African perspective. Additionally various materials have been known to be used, including fibre, metals, copper, gold, silver, brass, stones, wood, and in some cases, very rare gemstones.
